Recently, I arranged a fitness & glamour studio shoot with the amazing Eveliina Koskelo. The idea and setup were pretty simple. How can I present my subject in the most appealing way by shaping light? Body position, direction of light, intensity of light, reflection were all points to consider. I used a combination of natural light, studio light and reflectors to produce a balanced and flattering look. I didn't want the shadow side to be completely black so fill light was provided by a reflector. The main light was natural window light, which I modified by curtains and diffusers to my liking. A slight flare was added by placing a flash high above in the back, facing the camera. The backgrounds used were hand-painted earth tones on canvas - my go-to selection for most of my portraiture.
