Epic commercial photography for Puustikki carpenters
I was recently hired by Puustikki and Tuonicoru, companies that manufacture viking-inspired furniture (Puustikki) and jewellery (Tuonicoru), to photograph a series of epic product images. The main image for the shoot was a Skyrim-/viking-inspired bed of epic proportions! I must admit, I had never seen anything quite like it before. The bed frame was fashioned from Finnish pine and birch and was 100% hand-crafted with beautiful carvings depicting images from viking lore. As cream on top, the headboard included three breath-taking dragon heads. The details in every carving were so astonishingly intricate that I didn't even dare consider the hours of sweat dedicated into crafting this wonder. Its width was measured at 3,5 meters and height 2,6 meters. It's weight, a whopping 700 kg! Once it's assembled in your bedroom, it won't move!
The second highlight of the day, but no means least, was a 180cm tall wooden dragon with wings made of leather. The carpenters called it "Teppo". Obviously the dragon looked quite minuscule while standing next to the bed frame, but I promise you, it was a huge marvel!
Moving from large wooden furniture to tiny jewellery, I also photographed beautiful dragon-inspired rings for Puustikki. The rings were made of metal and were coated with skin from a pike perch which was then embedded into resin. Each ring represents a different type of dragon and element. The fire dragon ring stands on a pile of ashes, the green dragon ring stands on a mossy rock, the water dragon ring stands on wet stones and the black dragon ring on a pile of black sand and stone.
